Letter A practice

Letter

Print at 100% / actual size. Match the selected Letter or A4 paper.

From looking to writing

Use the one-letter worksheet for these three steps. Sit beside the child, demonstrate once, and let them work at their own pace.

An adult and child point to the large A and a on a letter practice sheet.01

Meet the letter

Point to the large letter and say its name together. When using both cases, explain that the two shapes are the same letter. Name the picture and find the letter at the start of its English word. The picture can be colored after practice.

A child follows a tracing row of A letters with a pencil.02

Trace with a finger, then a pencil

Model the letter using the writing style taught at school. Let the child follow a large letter with a finger before trying a tracing row with a pencil or crayon. Work on one row at a time; stop for a break when they need one.

A child writes an A on a blank handwriting line, using the large letter as a model.03

Try the blank lines

Ask the child to copy the model on the last two lines. Keep the large letter visible for reference. If writing without tracing is difficult, return to one tracing row and try again later. Add this edited sheet to the print pack to keep it with other activities.

AI-created use examples. The downloadable worksheet is generated from the exact preview above.

Choose a familiar writing model

Start with the font closest to the child’s school materials. Andika is a clear print model; Patrick Hand is a handwritten alternative. These are tracing sheets, without numbered stroke-order instructions. Demonstrate the movement you want the child to practise.

Print once, reuse thoughtfully

Match Letter or A4 to your printer and use 100% / actual size. Plain mode saves decorative ink. For reusable finger or dry-erase practice, an adult can place the sheet in a clear sleeve; remove it when writing with pencil.
