Choosing and using this paper
Choosing and printing this specification
At 6.4 mm, these closely spaced rules suit small handwriting and dense revision notes. If tall letters or corrections touch the next line, move to 7.1 mm college ruling or 8.7 mm wide ruling instead of shrinking your handwriting.
How much space the layout gives you
Inside the page margins, the rules span 317.5 mm across and 177.8 mm vertically. There are 28 horizontal rules, creating 27 full writing bands. These counts describe the default sheet, before editor changes.
Paper and printer choice
US Legal needs a tray and paper that support 8.5 × 14 inches. A Letter-only tray cannot preserve the full page at actual size. Switch the preset to your loaded sheet before exporting rather than fitting the longer PDF onto shorter paper. For blue or gray guides, print and photocopy one trial sheet first; faint lines may lose contrast in a copy.
Questions about this format
- How can I check the printed spacing?
Print at 100% or Actual Size, then measure from one rule or dot to the one ten intervals away. That distance should be 64 mm for this 6.4 mm preset. Measuring ten intervals is easier than judging one small gap; exclude the thickness of the lines.
