大きな行間とガイド線で文字の形を整える。いつ通常罫に移るか。
handwritingkidsprimary-linededucation
Primary lined paper is designed for early handwriting practice. The goal is to give kids a visual structure so letters stay the right size and sit on the baseline.
What primary lined paper looks like
Compared to standard ruled paper, primary paper typically has:
- Wider spacing between main lines
- A dashed midline to guide letter height (especially lowercase letters)
This reduces frustration and helps build consistent writing habits.
When to use it
- Kindergarten and early elementary
- Students practicing letter formation
- Kids who struggle with consistent letter size or baseline alignment
When to switch to standard ruled
If a student can consistently:
- keep letters on the baseline
- keep letter heights consistent
- write comfortably for longer periods
then wide ruled or college ruled becomes a better fit.

- Wide ruled: Wide ruled template
Printing tip
Primary spacing is meaningful. Always print at Actual Size / 100% so the dashed midline stays where it should.
